Back in May 2009, Boogie and I were walking around the neighborhood and came across this underground bar that seemed to be some relic from
TITO's time--it was literally underground, a dingy basement space accessed by a small, steep stairwell from the street.

The owner/bartender was quietly enjoying some rakija, traditional plum brandy, under a big flag from socialist ex-Yugoslavia when we came in.

...and now, not only is it gone, but it looks like someone poured a lot of concrete down the stairwell so not a trace remains.

I'm sure there aren't many places like that one left in the world...oh well...
